I do not fear death
For it is a long lost bet
The only thing I fear is losing myself
This dark and vile place that begs you to be insecure,
Your thoughts become tainted and thrown into a tight net
A voice you once called your own is now destroyed and crippled,
In a world where individuality is posed as a threat.
—-
Accusations are thrown around
Informing me of my lack of normality,
How I refuse to be like everyone I see from this town
Certain personalities appear to be obsolete and mandatory,
While mine is hated and is found as an abomination that must be drowned
But if you take your time and understand my reason,
You’ll know that there are unique qualities in each person that are yet to be found
Yet you strive to make this individual fall apart,
How they feel so torn and their screams on the inside become so loud
As their heart, soul, and mind quarrel for peace,
While they want nothing but to be accepted as their pain becomes a heavy mound.
—-
Reveal their thoughts and you’ll see nothing but the urge to be accepted
But they refuse to change to suit your expectations,
All in order to protect their talent and uniqueness and save it from being affected
For they will defend themselves with all their might,
Because they believe that they should not belong and will never feel repent.
—-
Every individual was born to be unique
Not just through their looks but through their talents and personalities,
As it helps society reach different types of feats
You reach for your own pride through your own accomplishments,
Not a fake personality and identity which some people may urge you to meet.
